Hand cream

I have been noticing that my hands have been really wrinkly this winter. According to an article from Dr Trusky, we should "treat our hands like fine china". I thought that was interesting, since I certainly do not do this. I sell Avon and have been using an anti aging hand cream, that is very thick. Like it very much. Unfortunately this hand cream was not on Dr list.
Here are some the ingredients that should be found in a GOOD cream...Silicone, Glycerol, and Petrolatum in jelly form. A hand cream needs at least all three of these elements.
So be on the look out friends...and be good to your hands.

Resolve

This post fits back into my happiness project.
This has been a tough month for youngest daughter and myself, but we made it through. Thank you lord. Sunday was a great day inmost ways, so there is some brightness in the horizon.
BE HAPPY and you might even benefit your body, mind and soul.
Think about a baby..how it tries to gain new knowledge. Always so happy when things are accomplished. Do we want to take a new step in the happiness project?

What do you truly believe? Tough question.
Do what you really want to do? Very interesting right? Hello happy, goodbye anger.

Move to your own music. Always like this saying. Take some thinking about what this would mean to each individual but worth thinking about.
Take responsibility for your own stuff, no blaming, forgive and move on.
Find what you are looking for in yourself before you go looking elsewhere. REMEMBER you are the only person who can truly make yourself happy beside God.

Why don't we digest this for awhile. I think I am doing entirely to much reading on this subject.
All post our welcome. We could get a good discussion going.

Listen

How many of us really do this? I would simple say not many of us. In business settings or personnel settings, the quite ones are the ones that are usually really listening and absorbing. I feel that I have used my time well spent when I do listen. One can hear new ideas and thoughts that others are presenting. Do not be the one who jumps into a conversation with advice. Listen to the friend first. Try to understand what the other person is really communicating. Maybe they just want to vent and do not need or want any advice.
These qualities will bring out the trust in your friends and co-workers. Might even be a good idea for leaders to think about this. This can bring more understanding and even happiness to your relationships, which is what we all want Right?

Diet Wall

Oh yes, I think that I have the mental wall of dieting. Lost some weight but have seem to have stopped. How does one handle this? Any ideas? Jump righ tin on the conversation.
I have a couple of ideas that I am going to try.
Press on-keep on tracking your food, weight, keep on exercising-moving.
Don't think to much just keep on doing what you have been doing. Pat yourself on the back for the good things.
Bribe yourself. This works for me.
Words-watch the negative words that you use. Think of the sucess not the failures.
Negotiate with yourself. Go to the next lbs, the next meal, the next snack. Keep small and simple but keep on going.
Positive is my new motto. Com and join me.

Muscle cramps

Hey do you guys get these awful cramps in the middle of the night. Brother I do and they hurt. If asnyone comees up with some good advice pass it on, I found an article in this group I am a memeber of SPark.
They seem to occur mostly in the leg area, at least mine do. Try to slowly stretch out before exercise, drink plently of fluid, be very warey in hot weather.
Breatiing deeply helps supply oxygen to the muscles.
When exercising slowly increase intensity. I have also noticed that walking helps me.
What can one do in the middle of the cramp. Rub the muscle-I sometimes even use the product called ICE. Gently stretch the area. Might even actually try ICE for 10 or 15 mints.
Avoid eating a heavy meal before working out.
I have been trying all kinds of these ideas but still am not controlling these darn things all the tiime.
How about you?

Love your body?!

Is this loaded question? No I am going to talk a little about your marveolous body. After watching the grammies, we probably all feel somewhat intimadated.
First let us stop picking on ourselves. There is probably something we all want to change about our bodies and hopefully things that we like. Focus on the things you like.
Consider the function: The body does million of little things all day long that we don't even think about that keep us going. So why are we so concerned with weight, the white teeth etc. Maybe we could think about our mind, our friends, hey even our family.
REAL: Don't believe what you see on TV. Even the so called non celebraty people have something done to them before going on TV. Think about this and discuss with your children. Help all of us realize what is real.
Dialogue: Let each of us choose to be good to ourselves. Talk the talk, walk the walk..the one for us. Act like you are good and you will be.
Take care of your body: The body is your greatest gift, but we sometimes treat it with great disrespect. Watch the diet pills, the red meat, the soda, coffee etc. Eat healthy. Think about what you put into body. Yes, we really only have one lifetime, so we should try to make the most of it by staying as healthy as we can.

Making life special

Stir it up. Do you kind of feel bored with the every day. I really most of us do especially this time of year. What can a person do? Why not do something different. Combine the everyday with some unexpected magic. If you have a hobby, try throwing in some kind of interest and share it. Find a personnel goal and combine with a social goal. Let us have fun with this idea. The stirring can be different for everyone, it is the process that will be fun to watch. Might even change you goals or your choices in some areas.

Eating together

I have been talking with my daughters about the benefits of family dinning. Not sure if I am getting through to them. Then I found this great article that directs a discussion about just this topic. I have given each daughter a copy and wanted to share a little with each of you. Feel free to jump into a discussion if you so desire.
One good reason..Communication..when the family sits down to eat, it gives a great opportunity to ask about the day, make plans for the weekend, catch up with activities, school etc. TALK- an idea that many families do not seem to embrace.
Manners..lead by example. Show to be polite, chew food, not talk with mouth full etc.
Expand the child's world..TRY new foods. Even just a taste will help expand the taste buds. Buy a new vegetable together, try a new recipe and let the child help with preparation.
Nourish: Foods prepared and eaten at home are more nutritious. Also at home soda and sweetened beverages are less likely to be offered.
Self-sufficient: It seems to be anyway that today's children are missing out on the idea of meal planning and preparation. Even to the point of helping with setting of table, pouring beverages, and clean-up. Chores what an idea..;the food just doesn't magically appear in front of you. Make dinner time a team effort showing responsibility and acceptance of the meal.
Grades: now listen up to this one. I did not make this up. Children do better in school when they dine with the family.
Money: Meals prepared at home cost less--two to four times less. WOW! What a great way to save money and get the family back together.
Let's do this young families.

Beat the flu?

Yes you can. L have been doing some reading and found a great article that gives us some great ideas to this (by B Hand who is a licensed dietitian.
Before
the power of eating produce. YES plant food contain natural fighting compounds.
Exercise: I know some of us are not found of this word but it is so important. We want our T celss to do their job.
Healthy lifestyle- do not smoke, sleep 7-8 hours eat right
GERMS wash hands frequently, do not share cups
WATER WATER keep on drinking

AFTER
Feed a cold, starve a fever-neither really, Just follow your stomach
Drink fluids
Vit C 250 mill each day
Chicken soup, yes this is really true. No one is really sure how or why but it does show that this soup does work
Garlic may help stimulate the immune system
Echinacea a herb which is a natural immune enhancer
RELAX and rest. Do not push yourself when sick. It will only prolong the flu or cold and also will spread the systems no matter how careful one is.

Forgiveness

Now this little word should give one pause for thought. All humans probably need to forgive someone and also themselves. Forgiveness does create a cycle, positive hopefully.
Holding grudges does not produce a good attitude and can be harmful. Bitterness can lead to hatefully thoughts which might sour your own life and cause stress.
Your best bet all around is to clear the air-either verbally or by writing a note expressing your point of view. The person might not even know you are having any trouble thoughts their way.
Get past the events so you can live feeling more free.
Try it out if you are stuck in any kind of trouble relationship.

Diet-friendly Alcohol

Yes, sound funny? but can be true. Great article from L Beeattie. One must be careful no matter what or when you decide to drink. I am just going to briefly set the tone for the article. You can do some research if it so intrigues you.
Wine the most friendly choice most only 20 calories.
Hard liquor Easy on diet the lowest calorie wise seems to be Vermouth. The rest from Rum to Cognac are in the high 60 to 70 calories depending on size of shot.
BEER Raise your glass. The best bet for the quantity 150 cal for 12 oz.--light beer is even better.
Liqueur: small but potent. They pack a BIG punch with about 155 cal for 1.5 oz serving.
If you budget your calories you can afford a drink or two on special occasions.
These are not hard core facts but just some interesting reading and thinking material.

Stewardship

I'm a little early, but I hope to talk about taking care of our earth next week.
Reduce, reuse and recycle, the words we keep hearing lately. Sound great, but are we as a nation really do this. Even as an individual? I truly hope so.
Think about this..do you litter?- probably not anymore. Do you drive your own car instead of carpool? Most likely-no one wants to a slight bit inconvenienced.
Do you buy green products..that probably is a sometime. I know That these products tend to cost more but I am truly saying the money is worth the effort.
THINK about what our earth is going to be like in 50 years. We wont be around but our children and grandchildren will. What are we leaving for them to deal with?
Set a good example for them..eat healthy, use healthy products, recycle as much as possible.
Show appreciation of nature-take walks, go camping, enjoy the outdoors instead of TV, phones Disney world etc.
THINK of the world as a community shared by past generations and future generations. Let us try to leave them with something besides "clean-up". IT will make you happy.

Finances

I usually shy away from posting anything about money; however I saw this great article in the phamplet I get from my bonds. It talks about "Cleaning up your portfolio..
SOme good ideas. Briefly here goes::
Review your most recent statement to do some comparisons with your goals. Probably at the moment you are off track but do not panic . Watch..and be patient.
Get rid of small accounts
Simplify your accounts-try to minimize the number of accounts.
The over all goals of money management in my mind anyway seem to improve long-term performance and reduce risk.

Just for Today

but I am going to try and do these new attitudes more than that.
I am taking a class on clutter and this was one of our motivations lesson that was adapted from Al-anon and I am adjusting for my purpose.
JUST FOR TODAY I will life for this day by not brood about yesterday and obsessing for tomorrow

I will be happy and not dwell of thoughts that make me sad but let the sunshine in

I will improve my mind by reading, researching, doing puzzles.

I will be agreeable, I will not speak ill of others and I will have the courage to do what is right by taking responsibility of my own actions.

NOW this should make me happy, don't you think.

A big bit to take but I am up for the challenge.

Who contols your emotions?

Good questions. When one stops to thingk about this, the anwers to be everyone you are envolved with. WOW!. As adults, I feel anyway, we have to clairm our choices and the consequences. When one has negative attitudes on a regular bases, I find they create a pessimistic outlook and sometimes even lack of confidence. Who do you blame when situations go astray? The world does have influence but a growing mature person means taking control of emotions and attitude. OWN them - work with them- let them help you grow.
